The Word

A few years ago, I was reading the excellent writings of Paul Rosenberg at The Freemans Perspective, a site I highly recommend for thought provoking insights. In one article, “Three Words You Must Remember” [ wrote “Life reverses Entropy”, a concept with which I agreed.

I knew the meaning of the word entropy, but I wondered why Paul did not just use the antonym for entropy. Given that I did not know that word, I went to the dictionary and thesaurus to find it. To my surprise, that word, that concept, did not exist!  I then searched all dictionaries. Check for yourself, not one dictionary has a definition for the opposite of entropy, so I invented one: –

Entropy is the wearing out of everything, the slow death of the sun and the planets, the cessation of all life over the next few million years. Entropy is also our personal journey as we age and die.

Antropy (my proposed definition) is the accumulation of civilization, the positive accretion of knowledge and experience, the achievements of our species, the enhancement of existence on and for our planet, the positive actions we have taken in the past and will take in the future for our planet and everything on it to thrive and prosper. Antropy is also our personal journey of growth as we discover our world, our values, our virtues, our friends. We build civilizations.

That is quite a concept to embrace but look around and you see Antropy everywhere. You are literally living in the accumulated creation of thousands of years of human progress. You know it is real, the format on which you are reading this is tangible proof that Antropy is real.

How did this Antropy happen? For thousands of years, human beings were small isolated tribes, nomadic and constantly at war with each other just to survive. The impact of our species really started only 6,000 years ago, when we stopped being small groups constantly at war, and learned to specialize our skills and functions so we could collaborate and trade with each other.

Some became farmers, some hunters, some traders, some builders, and this evolution of the division of labour and specialization of skill expanded to the point that each individual could take the time and effort to learn to Be Of Worth (BOW) to another human being. We learned to trade a wide and growing set of goods and services to and for the benefit of all. We continued this accretion of experience and expertise with significant exponential growth in the last 200 years.

From 1906 to 1969, we went from stepping off the ground to stepping off the planet, from flying to the mountains to flying to the moon. This is Antropy.

From 1948 to 1972, we went from a single transistor on my thumbnail, to a full-blown computer, a microprocessor, the Intel 4004, still sitting on my thumbnail. This is Antropy.

By 2020, we can fit 30 billion transistors on that same thumb, and we even call a terabyte of digital storage a ‘thumb’ drive. For each grain of rice and wheat that is produced in all the world, we make 1000 times as many transistors, This is Antropy, the destiny of density, sitting on my thumb, and it is the simple profound truth that:-

Now is the best we have ever been!  Never have we done so much with so little so fast.

Life itself has flourished and will continue to do so for millions of years. This is the product of Antropy. Entropy will finally occur due primarily to the death of our sun, but human beings can, with intelligence and effort, character and competence, collaboration and compassion, extend the lifespan of all species and the planet, allowing all to flourish harmoniously. We could even slow down and possibly reverse Entropy on Earth and extend life on our planet, in the opinion of some scientists, “for millions of years”. To do this, we must examine and understand Åntropy.

The Antropy website will examine what have we rejected, what have we retained, what have we lost, what have we learned, what have we quit, what have we kept. Antropic articles will show that we have gradually learned to accumulate knowledge and skill, to pass it on to succeeding generations and to evolve this enlightenment as we face a future filled with potential. Antropy is the positive accumulation of the lessons of “Reality Is”. So just to clarify the concept,

20 Yrs Progress

Entropy erodes, Antropy accretes,

Entropy is destruction
Antropy is construction

Entropy is the wearing down of our species
Antropy is the building up of our species

Entropy takes order and devolves to chaos
Antropy takes chaos and evolves to order

Entropy is the deception of ideology
Antropy is the perception of reality,

In the same time frame as this photo, one billion human beings have been brought out of abject poverty through the collaborative caring of human beings. That is Antropy!

The Antropy website will collect, curate, and communicate the contributions of human beings over time to the flourishing of all life on this planet. We will examine the cyclical nature of time, the thousands of cycles that interact, and the inter-connectedness and inter-dependence of people on this planet, past and present. One Billion People is a good start, but more is needed.

The series will show that as collaborating individuals, we have finally learned to accumulate knowledge and skill, to pass it on to succeeding generations and to evolve this enlightenment. But more questions remain. Why is this website even needed? Why is this concept of Antropy unknown? Why is there so much negativity about our present and our future? Why is there a ‘doom and gloom’ media? What info is left out of the story?
